Nomad Woobie Jacket: Cold-Weather Coverage, Same Trusted Harness

Nomad Woobie Jacket: Cold-Weather Coverage, Same Trusted Harness

Oct 29th 2026

Cold weather should not mean starting over with an unfamiliar harness setup. The Nomad Woobie Jacket™ adds warmth and water-resistant coverage beneath the Nomad Harness Frame™, keeping the handles and leash attachment points right where the handler expects them.

In this installment of the Nomad series, the focus turns to a practical cold-weather accessory that helps working dog teams adapt without replacing their core equipment.

Added Protection When Conditions Change

Not every working dog has a thick coat suited to cold conditions. For dogs that need another layer, the Nomad Woobie Jacket combines a Cordura nylon exterior with a warm fleece lining to help retain body heat.

The exterior resists water, abrasion, and tears, while the lining adds insulation beneath the harness. It is a useful addition for outdoor training and fieldwork when conditions call for extra coverage.

Water-resistant does not mean waterproof, however. The jacket provides added protection, not a guarantee that a dog will stay dry through prolonged rain or every winter condition.

Same Handles, Same Attachment Points

The biggest advantage is how the jacket integrates with the existing system. It fits snugly underneath the Nomad Harness Frame rather than replacing it.

That keeps the handler's familiar layout intact:

  • Handles remain accessible for close control and assisted movement.
  • Leash attachment points stay in their usual positions.
  • The existing harness frame remains the foundation of the setup.
  • Side VELCRO® panels provide space for ID patches and placards.

We designed the Nomad Interchangeable Harness System™ around that consistency. The equipment can change with the assignment while the core handling platform stays familiar.

Pack It Until It Is Needed

The Nomad Woobie Jacket folds down for storage in a backpack, rucksack, or duffel. Handlers can keep it with the team's equipment and add it when temperatures drop or the weather changes.

Available in several sizes, it allows teams to select coverage for the individual dog. Correct sizing and harness adjustment still matter with the jacket installed, so handlers should check fit and freedom of movement before heading into work.

One Platform, More Ways to Work

The Nomad Woobie Jacket adds warmth without requiring a separate cold-weather harness. It is another example of the Nomad approach: retain the frame, add the appropriate component, and configure the equipment around the conditions.

The jacket is designed for the Nomad system, and the harness frame is sold separately.
