The Jaded Dog Trainer: Stop Telling Bad Dogs They're Good!

Have you ever seen a misbehaving dog in public and heard their owner saying that the dog was being “good”? Of course you have! And The Jaded Dog Trainer has, too... and he’s sick of it!

In this week’s video, our friend TJDT goes off on all of the dog owners out there who don’t discipline their dogs when they’re acting like jackasses. More specifically, the people who ignore poor behaviors and actually praise their dogs by saying they’re good boys or girls.

Think of it this way, you won’t be rewarded by your boss if you show up to your job 10 percent of the time. So why would you reward a misbehaving dog if they’re only good on certain occasions? That doesn’t make any sense! Instead, dogs need to be corrected when they’re acting out of line and only rewarded when they’re actually being good.
