The Atlas Grip Builder is a collaboration between Ray Allen Manufacturing and Inkentshane K9, created by Jourdan Henderson. This innovative three-part training system is designed to build grip strength, jaw strength, stamina, and confidence on the bite.
The Grip Builder can be used as a standalone training tool during walks, before an operation, or as part of a treadmill workout. It is designed to be worked by the K9 itself rather than used as a handler-operated training tool.

The Atlas Grip Builder is a complete workout system designed to develop crushing grip strength, jaw strength, stamina, and confidence on the bite. With adjustable opposition pressure, optional weight bags, and an HDP Grip Insert, the system can be progressed as your K9 gets stronger.
Grip Builder Base
The Grip Builder Base is constructed from durable HDP (high-density plastic) with a full Syntek bite surface on one side and loop Velcro on the other. Two integrated handles on the bottom allow the handler to properly position and present the Grip Builder to the K9.
The system includes three strap options to adjust the level of opposition pressure:
- Green: Easy
- Yellow/Coyote: Medium
- Red: Hard
When the Grip Builder is folded, it naturally creates opposition tension. The included straps help control and maintain that tension during use. Higher-resistance straps create greater opposition pressure, encouraging the K9 to maintain tension while engaging the jaw and head muscles.

- Build jaw and grip strength
- Improve stamina during the bite
- Encourage stronger, more consistent grips
- Help naturally correct "typewriter" biting
- Build confidence on the bite
Important Safety Notice: The Grip Builder straps must be used at all times when the K9 is working the system. Do not allow the K9 to use the Grip Builder without the straps in place. Using the Grip Builder without straps can create excessive opposition pressure and may result in damage or injury.
Grip Bag Weights
Add the Atlas Grip Weight Bags to increase the workload of the Grip Builder. Each bag adds approximately 1 to 1.5 lbs of weight, allowing you to add up to 9 lbs of additional weight to the system.
The weight bags can be used with the Grip Builder Base while maintaining the system's ability to create opposition pressure.
HDP Grip Insert
As your K9 progresses, the Grip Builder can be upgraded with the HDP Grip Insert to increase the level of opposition pressure.
If the Grip Builder has become too easy for your K9 or is no longer providing the desired level of tension, the HDP Grip Insert adds additional structure and resistance to restore or increase the workload.
The insert features hook Velcro on one side and loop Velcro on the other, allowing it to integrate directly with the Grip Builder Base. The insert can be used alongside the Atlas Grip Weight Bags for additional resistance and customization.
